Cottenham Park Road

This project involved the demolition of an existing detached 1930s property and its replacement with two high-end semi-detached townhouses. Being located on Wimbledon Hill, the sloping site provided several structural engineering challenges to resolve. Working closely with the developer, a top-down construction approach for the basement was chosen. This requires the permanent structural engineering design to also be designed as the temporary propping to the top of the piles. This enabled excavations to proceed safely at a significantly reduced cost to the client. 

In addition to the Structural Engineering design, The Structure Studio also provided temporary works design, reinforcement detailing for the basement box and steel connection design for the above ground structure so that the developer had one point of contact for all of the structural design works.
