This single-storey rear extension involved the removal of the existing load-bearing rear wall to create a generous, open-plan kitchen and dining space.

The structural design centred on the introduction of curved glulam beams, which were carefully detailed to provide the required load paths while complementing the architectural intent. These elements enabled large openings and vaulted forms, allowing natural light to penetrate deep into the space.

The result is a structurally efficient solution that combines contemporary performance with a warm, expressive timber aesthetic.
