“I recently commissioned The Structure Studio to carry out some design, planning and structural calculation work for me for a rear and side extension to my 200 year old cottage which included the conversion of a small attached barn into a separate one bedroom studio apartment.
I consulted directly with the Director Gervaise Turbervill who met me on site at the beginning of the planning process and also on two occasions during the building process. Gervaise was very sympathetic to the age of my property and produced appropriate designs and subsequent plans incorporating local building materials.
The build has progressed smoothly, on occasion I have sought some further advice on options for alternatives to lintel structures, in the name of aesthetics, during the building I contacted Gervaise by email and he was very responsive in replying in a timely fashion and with some further advice and discussion.

“The Structure Studio have been working on the design and engineering of a ground and lower-ground floor extension to my Grade II listed Victorian home in a conservation area since June 2020. The team, led by Gervaise, have developed the drawings from planning stage to Tender. They have carefully considered the effects of the new works on the existing historic structures and clearly explained the design decisions in relation to the structure, aesthetics and heritage. They have also advised on and successfully obtained a party-wall decision exactly in line with my requirements. As the scope of the work has developed they have advised me on the need to prepare a revised application for Listed Building Consent, and are now also preparing a heritage statement for me.
